Chilton, WI -- Milk Products' roots are firmly planted in Chilton, WI. The 100 year history begins with a property purchase from Calumet Cold Storage by the Carnation Company in 1911. In July of that same year, production of Carnation Evaporated Milk began and continued until 1954. The Chilton plant location was remodeled to manufacture instantized, powdered milk -- producing the famous red and white boxes until Carnation's milk replacer manufacturing was moved from Kansas City to Chilton in 1979. The process Carnation perfected to hydrate and instantize milk was used to produce powder-based animal feed products, and is still largely in place today.
Milk Products has evolved over the decades. Today, it manufactures baby animal feed products such as milk replacers and colostrum supplements, as well as animal health products for over a dozen species of animals. The unique technology used in the plant has allowed Milk Products to manufacture custom animal feed products for companies who sell them under their own brands, as well as under the Milk Products' house brand -- the Sav-A-Caf Brand, which is sold through various retailers throughout the United States.
"The ability to design and customize products for our customers, along with our high quality standards and customer service are the keys to our success," commented Dave Kuehnel, President of Milk Products. "We are a customer-focused company and do what it takes to get the job done." This philosophy penetrates all levels throughout the company. The culture encourages each employee to identify and participate in process improvements. In addition, employees are recognized and rewarded for going 'above and beyond.'
Other reasons for success? "Last, but not least," concludes Dave Kuehnel, "the longevity and success of the company can also be attributed to the loyalty of our customers, farmers and animal raisers over the years. We wouldn't be in business without them."
